T2 had a joint meeting with T24 Dobbs Ferry with special guest Midshipman Haofeng Liu from the USNA in Analpolis.

Mr. Liu, who grew up locally in Dobbs Ferry and attended Scarsdale High, stopped in during his Thanksgiving leave to share his experiences as sophomore at the Academy with the guys.

Thanks to Hastings resident Mike Hogan and T2 Committee Member Rob Freireich for helping to set this up, and to T24 Scoutmaster Dalio for hosting.

T2 once again setup and ran an activity station for the Cub Scouts at the Council-wide Thunderbird Games. Some 2000+ Cubs attended. The troop camped on the peninsula between the Hudson River and Croton Bay.

Thanks to Troop Committee Members Shuto, J. Shuart and ASM Mulvihill for assisting and making this possible for our scouts.

Troop 2 helped with the NYC DEP annual reservoir clean-up day at Kensico Reservoir.   The water from the NYC water system serves Hastings as well.

We ran into a few other scout troops there lending a hand.

Beautiful day outdoors, and much accomplished.  Thanks to ASM Mulvihill for his support, and the idea.

Troop 2 Hastings attended Camp Buckskin in the Adirondacks for the 11th year straight! This time, ASMs Mulvihill and Hughes accompanied our scouts, who shared a campsite with our friends in T24 Dobbs Ferry. All scouts earned some merit badges, some advanced in rank and all had fun. The troop won the Camp-wide Triathlon this year – quite an achievement for a relatively small troop!

T2 spent a beautiful spring weekend and evening up at Durland Scout Reservation.  We spent the day on canoes, kayaks, rowboats and paddle boats on Clear Lake.

T2 spent a weekend cabin camping and exploring on an early spring weekend near Tannersville, NY.  The scouts practiced axe safety, did some hiking, and made a memorable stop at the infamous Twin Peaks Donuts shop. (If you are nearby, don’t miss this stop…)

T2 on the trail to Indian Head, November 2018

Troop 2 ascended the Indian Head Mountain Trail in the Catskills this early November weekend. Is that snow?  At around elevation 3500 feet, yes!  Like our 19+ part “AT” hike series, the Catskills could be another continuing story!

T2 at the Tarrytown waterfront

T2 took one of our day biking trips up the OCA trail to Tarrytown, grabbed lunch on Main Street, and hung out down by the waterfront. Perfect soft-start to the Scouting season…which is really all year ’round.

ASM Armacost and Mr. Shuto accompanied six of our scouts on this two-day, two-night trek along the Appalachian Trail (AT) in northern New Jersey.

As most of you may know, this is hike no. 16 in the series. Three scouts, plus Mr. Armacost (and of course Pepper) had previously completed the entire 88+ mile New York State section of the trail, and now several scouts have completed three large segments out of the 72+ mile New Jersey section.  More photos here (password required): https://10kw.smugmug.com/Scouts/2016-11-AT-trek-16/
